Privacy Policy

ModelGuide is a free, independent and non-commercial hobby project. It is designed to work without an account, advertising, behavioral tracking or third-party analytics.
What stays on your device
Favorites, recently viewed devices, search history and app preferences are stored locally on your device. On the website, the selected language is stored in your browser using localStorage. If web favorites or recent searches are added later, the intention is to keep those locally in your browser as well. ModelGuide does not operate a user-account system and does not upload these preferences to a ModelGuide user database.
Website hosting and technical data
The website is delivered and protected through Cloudflare. To provide the website and protect it against abuse, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as an IP address, request headers, browser or network information and timestamps. ModelGuide Workers Logs are normally disabled. If they are temporarily enabled to investigate a technical problem, they are used only for troubleshooting and are disabled again afterwards.
Why information may be processed
Where the GDPR applies, limited technical information is processed only as necessary to operate and secure the website, remember a preference you chose, or respond to a request you voluntarily send. The legal basis is, where applicable, the legitimate interest in operating and securing ModelGuide and responding to support or privacy enquiries.
Support e-mail
If you contact ModelGuide by e-mail, the information you choose to send — such as your e-mail address, message and any attachment — is used to answer your request. Support correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request and related follow-up, and is then deleted.
Support e-mail is handled through Gmail, a service provided by Google. If you e-mail ModelGuide, your e-mail address, message and any attachments may therefore also be processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
Please do not send passwords, MFA or recovery codes, payment information, or other sensitive information. Avoid sending a full device serial number unless it is genuinely needed, and redact personal or sensitive information from screenshots where possible.
Catalog downloads and external sources
When you download catalog data or open an external source link, your device connects to the relevant third-party service. ModelGuide uses public reference sources such as AppleDB and may link to Apple or other reference websites. Those providers may process technical connection information under their own privacy policies.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
ModelGuide itself does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, advertising networks, fingerprinting, cross-site tracking or third-party analytics. The website uses localStorage for functional preferences such as your selected language. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary technical mechanisms as part of hosting and security, depending on its service configuration.
International processing
Cloudflare operates an international infrastructure. Technical data may therefore be processed outside the European Economic Area in accordance with Cloudflare’s privacy documentation and applicable transfer safeguards.
Retention and deletion
Local app and browser data remains on your device until you clear it, reset the relevant preference or remove the app, subject to the behavior of your device and backups you control. Support messages are deleted after they are no longer reasonably needed for the request. Cloudflare determines retention of its own necessary infrastructure and security data under its policies and service configuration.
Your privacy rights
Where applicable, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and objection. If information exists only locally on your device, ModelGuide does not possess a server-side copy to provide or delete. Privacy requests can be sent to modelguidesupport@gmail.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
ModelGuide is not specifically directed at children and does not contain adult-only content. It does not require an account and does not intentionally collect personal information from children through a ModelGuide user database.
This policy will be updated if ModelGuide’s data practices change.
